New CDC Estimates on Lyme

Lyme disease strikes about 300,000 people each year, according to new information released by federal health officials. The new estimates suggest the disease is 10 times more common than previously thought.

What Bugs Me About Lyme Disease

Lyme disease: n.  An inflammatory disease caused by a spirochete (Borrelia burgdorferi) that is transmitted by ticks, usually characterized initially by a rash followed by flulike symptoms including fever, joint pain, and headache. (from the freedictonary)

After hours of online and book reading, I will attempt to summarize what has stuck in my brain.  Please comment with any additional information or possible corrections.  I will add links at the bottom of this post for those of you who wish to begin your own fact finding mission.  Caution:  “facts” about Lyme seem to be fuzzy.  Answers seem to hinge on who you ask.

Last last time I experimented with  a new soup, I was invited to go with friends to pick up a new puppy.  Well, lightening does strike twice.  The puppy picture may be cute enough to help the soup picture.  It looks gross but tastes really nice.  I will be adding garlic next time.

The video is a good reminder to check local and nearby forecasts to avoid being in one of the canyons when the river comes calling!
